On the 8th August it will be Safe Sport Day, a global initiative to highlight the importance of providing safe, inclusive and fun environments free from harms for children and young people in sport.
The International Safeguards for Children in Sport need to see Africa participating in Safe Sport Day demonstrating to the World how all of us in sport value our children and young people. Africa is the continent with the youngest population worldwide. As of 2022, around 40 percent of the population was aged 15 years and younger, compared to a global average of 25 percent.
This year we are putting athletes' voices front and centre - capturing the thoughts of athletes at the Commonwealth Youth Games and encouraging all of you to share what your participants have to say about why safe sport is important to them! We also want to hear your latest safeguarding news - maybe you could launch a new initiative on August 8th, or use it to talk about what you've accomplished in safeguarding in the last year? The International Safeguards for Children in Sport have social media kits, with graphics templates for you to use and adapt, so click on the link, download the guide in your preferred language, and get ready for August 8th!!
Also remember to use the following hashtags on the 8th August.
